iHear iBooks?

The latest version of iBooks apparently has a read-aloud feature — which is awesome. But I wonder: does it work for all books? Wasn’t this a huge issue with the Kindle? I recall loving that feature, then Amazon essentially killed it after publishers complained.

From the iTunes Store and What’s New in 1.3:

“Help your children learn to read with the new read-aloud feature included in select children’s books…”

There was more but I thought that explained it rather well.

penllawen said: Amazon gave publishers a “disable text-to-speech” bit, which most of them immediately flipped for all their books. Something to do with audiobook licensing and/or cannibalisation, was the (weak) reasoning.
